Champagne Chapuy is a family estate of 6 hectares in the “Côtes de Blancs” planted with 100% Chardonnay. The family also owns another 3 hectares of vines in Épernay planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier which allows them to make blended Champagnes.
Although the family have been vine growers in Champagne for well over a century, it wasn’t until 1952 that Serge Chapuy started to produce and commercialize the current brand. His son Arnold, the current chairman succeeded his father as head of the estate in 1981 and he was joined by his daughter Elodie in 2003, who looks after the international market. Aurore the youngest daughter has been in charge of the production since 2008.
All the Champagnes follow the traditional champagne method, the first alcoholic fermentation is undertaken in stainless steel vats. Once a year all the still wines are bottled so that the “Prise de Mousse” secondary fermentation happens in bottle.
The laying period is 2/3 years for non-vintage champagnes and a minimum of 5 years for the vintage champagnes.
