This 17th Century estate was purchased by the Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and her two sons in 1998 and has since undergone extensive renovation.
Located in the Saint Polycarp commune, near the town of Limoux in the Aude Valley district of the Languedoc Roussillon, the estate has 118 hectares under vine. Output is made up predominately with red varietals, Grencahe, Syrah and Malbec from the Mediterranean and Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Atlantic.
The wine has a vivid and deep dark red colour and an attractively fresh nose that opens on redcurrant, black cherry and wild strawberry.
On airing, rose and peony notes mingle with slightly kirsch-scented fruit and touches of spice.
Velvet-smooth on the palate, it combines red and black fruit with well-rounded, fine-grained tannins. The mid-palate is dense and pleasantly fresh.
The long, complex and elegant finish lingers on mixed fruit, perfectly integrated oak and notes of coffee, vanilla and spice
All the wines at the estate are under the direct supervision of the Chateau Mouton Rothschild technical team and proudly take their place among the elite brands of Baron Philippe de Rothschild.
