RP Rating: NA
A crystalline aspect with a golden tint. The seductive and delicate nose initially reveals mineral notes, then fills out on a fruitier register with aromas of vine peach, verbena and orange blossom. The attack is clean, powerful and harmonious, propelled by a minty freshness. The nicely balanced mid-palate reveals a creamy smooth, fresh and powerful body. A delicious echo of orchard fruit and orange peel rounds off a pleasantly long finish.
The vineyard is planted with 70% Bordeaux varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc) and 30% Mediterranean varieties (Syrah, Grenache and Malbec) for the red wines and 100% Chardonnay for the white wine.
This 17th Century estate was purchased by the Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and her two sons in 1998 and has since undergone extensive renovation.
Located in the Saint Polycarp commune, near the town of Limoux in the Aude Valley district of the Languedoc Roussillon, the estate has 118 hectares under vine. Output is made up predominately with red varietals, Grencahe, Syrah and Malbec from the Mediterranean and Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Atlantic.
In 2003 the wine was awarded the status of AOC Limoux. 2008 saw the first vintage of the 2nd wine la Capitalle de Baron'arques and in 2009 the first vintage of Le Chardonnay de Baron'arques was produced from the 3 hectares of Chardonnay planted.
All the wines at the estate are under the direct supervision of the Chateau Mouton Rothschild technical team and proudly take their place among the elite brands of Baron Philippe de Rothschild.
